Gather outside the Newberry Library for a 19th-century-style magic lantern show commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire.

You’ll be edified, entertained, and riveted by an unlikely story of survival on the very site of what is now the Newberry.

Experience the history of the Fire through a unique blend of music, narration, and animated images.

This event is produced in partnership with the Hideout. Magic lantern slides by Kathleen Judge. Music directed by Jeffery Thomas.
