CONSUMER SERIES
Influenced by the décollage of Jacques Villegle, Consumer Series 1-3, is a commentary on personal accumulation, advertising and consumer culture. The work mainly consists of paper amassed from purchases, discarded elements from torn billboards as well as objects found near city streets.

Trained as a filmmaker, Saint Martin is fascinated with the process of decomposition and its relationship to social change and the environment. Chris Saint Martin is a Chicago based artist working in film, music, print-making and photography. After being introduced to art as a teenager on Chicago’s Southside, he has gone on to exhibit films at The International Human Rights Film Festival in Vienna, Austria and The Video Art Festival in Turku, Finland among others. Influenced by the social realist works of early Spike Lee, John Akomfrah and the combines of Robert Rauschenberg and Thornton Dail, Saint Martin often experiments in different mediums, utilizing found objects and discarded materials. He is currently producing a series of works based on cultural narratives, representation and identity and has recently completed a feature length film that he both wrote and photographed over the course of a 15 year period.
