LPFU is thrilled to announce a two-part presentation on comics by Mariana Bojorquez and Chijioke Williams! This week for Part 1: Racism, Mariana will present on, arguably, one of the most important X-Men stories created — X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills by Chris Claremont, illustrated by Brent Anderson. This miniseries, published in 1982, continues to be extremely relevant in our current sociopolitical climate as it highlights themes we continue to encounter in our lives–racism and xenophobia, cruelty, and religious extremism–and brings a unique conflict to our mutant heroes: How can you fight an enemy you can’t see, but threatens the very sanctity of mutanthood? Come talk with us about this truly epic story! Next week Chi presents Part 2: Identity.

Chijioke Williams is a tech assistant at the Evanston Public library and a lifelong Marvel Fan. She is also a Voiceover artist, with credits in Audio Drama including Jar of Rebuke, Sidequesting, and Between Heartbeats.

Mariana Bojorquez is a Librarian at the Evanston Public Library and an avid graphic novel enthusiast.
