@ Baby Blue Gallery

2201 S Halsted St, 3-4s, Chicago, IL 60608

Opening Saturday, February 15th, from 7PM - 10PM

On view through Sunday, March 15th

Baby Blue Gallery is excited to announce Evil and Shivering, an exhibition of recent works by Sarah Banks and Ricardo Partida. Each piece is both seductive and sinister. The toys that you loved but threw in the trash, now grow like coral. Pretty ceramic poodles snarl. Angels shift to demons with a glance.

Sarah Banks is an artist from Dallas, Texas currently living in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is interested in the conversation between physical and digital creations and connects these two ways of making with her conceptual objectives. Banks’ work mutates alongside shifts in cultural trends which has led to the development of a world of landscapes and creatures. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, from the United States to Germany, Greece, and Iceland.

Ricardo Partida is a painter and a current MFA candidate at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago in the Painting and Drawing Department. Using methodologies of painting, his work explores carnal desires through the use of materiality and surface treatments. Often dealing with the push and pull of menacing and allure, his work aims to depict surrogates of seduction in an unapologetic light. Born in Mexico City, Mexico and raised in the border lands of South Texas, Partida’s work has been exhibited nationally including Texas, Chicago, and New York.
