John Steck Jr. is a visual artist from Chicago who received his BFA at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and his MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. He has exhibited across eighteen states as well as in Iceland, Hungary, Tokyo and Canada. Recent publications include Der Greif, Romka, Aint Bad, The Hand, Incandescent, LDOC, Oranbeg, The Ephemeral, Rûm, Imperceptibly and Slowly Opening and Art21 Magazine.
Steck has work included in such Public Collections as the Museum of Contemporary Photography and the DePaul Art Museum, both in Chicago. He has attended artist residencies in Iceland, Ireland, Quebec City, Vermont and Chicago. He was also the recipient of the Fellowship Award from the Vermont Studio Center and an Individual Artists Grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events in Chicago. Steck is a current an Instructor of Photography at Loyola University.
