The exhibition brings together the works of two brothers: the paintings of Sidney Glos, made while living in Chicago from 2022-2024, and the sculptures of Blake Glos.
Sidney’s paintings, drenched in blues, greens and greys, depict a gloomy, beautiful world: a moonlit walk home, the dying stem of a tomato plant, figures in a field at night, gazing onto the adjoining property.
Blake’s sculptural work is stable but responsive; he uses thinness and hollowness to convey sonic or instrumental qualities.
Presented together, their work pivots on a shared appreciation for stillness– the moment poised to be broken, the silence before the first note, that private, pre-mythical substance from which we construct our daily narratives.
