Every October, the Chicago Architecture Center hosts Open House Chicago—a free public festival that offers self-guided history and architecture trails throughout the city, along with talks, programming, and behind-the-scenes access to architecturally, historically, and culturally significant sites. The industrial architecture of Mana Contemporary is a key reason it stands out as a popular site during Open House Chicago.

Mana Contemporary and the Monira Foundation are thrilled to invite you to explore our OPEN STUDIOS, featuring studio visits and current exhibitions.

This free event offers a unique opportunity to meet local artists, experience diverse art practices and immerse yourself in the remarkable work of Mana Contemporary artists community!

Explore the creative practice of 50+ Mana Artists as they generously open their studios to the public. Discover the unique processes behind their work throughout the entire building. Experience standout art from makers shaping Chicago’s vibrant cultural landscape.

5th Floor Gallery:
PURVIS YOUNG, an exhibition of over 50 works of art and books (mid 80’s to early 90’s) by the self taught artist. Currently on view

Mana Highlight, 6th Floor:
Pre-Vamped Hides by Samuel Schwindt. Samuel Schwindt focuses on Derrida’s concept of hauntology — with his work showcasing figures and objects that feel out of place and reference sources that may or may not exist.

Mana Highlight, 8th Floor:
Texturescapes by Katherine Lampert is a series of 18 mixed media works on paper that explore the tension between memory, place, and the collision of natural and urban environments
Mana Highlight, 9th Floor: Home Body Land by Vida Sačić is a series of large-scale letterpress prints that explore ideas of migration, identity, and belonging.

Mana Highlight, 9th Floor:
Ram Dass by Kara Cobb Johnson. Ram Dass, Buffalo, School of Fish, and giraffe are all mixed media works that were compiled of screen printed drywall shims, sea foam blue insulation, paracord, string and spackle.
