Taxes Made Simple: For Individuals with (or without) Side Gigs
@ Chicago Made
Online
Opening Wednesday, September 10th, at 12PM
Presented by Josh Krivan, Program Director of LITC & Staff Attorney with Ladder Up
Artists are often freelance workers who function as sole proprietors, making it essential to understand self-employment tax as well as basic income tax.
This workshop delves into detail about the difference between being an employee and an independent contractor. Beginning with tax basics as its basis, we explain self-employment tax and best practices for independent contractors/self-employed in identifying and tracking business expenses, completing a W-9 form and preparing for tax time.
Chicago Made supports Chicago’s creative community and directly connects emerging artists to the City of Chicago’s resources, opportunities, festivals, events and cultural programming.
