Intertwined: Burns, Preserved, & Restoration curated by Colette Wright Adams
group exhibit – Renee Robbins, Colette Wright Adams, Chuck Walker, Mark Banks, & Bekah Joy Baker

Artists respond to what we preserve, what we record, and what we imagine.

This exhibition brings together the work of Chicago-area artists whose practices resonate with cycles of nature, transformation, and the restoration of ecosystems.

In 2025, for the first time in 20 years, North Park Village Nature Center reintroduced prescribed burns—a land management technique used to clear overgrowth, allowing native plants and biodiversity to thrive. These efforts are part of the Center’s broader mission to preserve and restore natural habitats.

Just as nature regenerates through fire and time, artists respond to the world around them—reflecting, questioning, and creating from moments of change.
Intertwined invites you to consider how environmental restoration and artistic expression connect and inform one another.

What do you see in these works?
What does restoration mean to you?

Charcoal drawing workshop: Oct 4th 10:00 – 2:00 pm
