About the Play
She Kills Monsters is a heartfelt and humorous play that centers on Agnes Evans, a young woman grieving the sudden death of her teenage sister, Tilly. While packing up Tilly’s belongings, Agnes discovers a notebook containing a Dungeons & Dragons campaign written by Tilly. Hoping to better understand the sister she never truly knew, Agnes recruits a local Dungeon Master to guide her through the game. As she ventures into the fantasy world Tilly created, Agnes comes face-to-face with her sister’s imagination, struggles, and identity. Blending real-life emotions with epic fantasy battles, She Kills Monsters is a poignant exploration of loss, acceptance, the power of fantasy to transform us all.
Content Warning
She Kills Monsters contains themes and depictions that may be sensitive for some audiences, including grief and loss, bullying, homophobic language, references to suicide, and stylized fantasy violence. It also includes discussions around identity and sexuality, and two really unpleasant demonic cheerleaders.
