Nick Fury Parallel Tracks: The Art of Transit in Chicago and Tokyo
@ Epiphany Center for the Arts/Guild Room
201 S Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60607
Opening Friday, August 1st, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Friday, September 12th
Nick Fury’s work investigates the ways urban transit systems reflect the identity and character of the cities they serve. Through firsthand experiences navigating both Chicago and Tokyo, he contrasts two vastly different approaches to public infrastructure. Chicago’s system—raw, imperfect, and pulsing with third rail sparks—embodies the city’s soul: resilient, diverse, and unapologetically unpolished. In contrast, Tokyo’s transit operates with near-surgical precision, reflecting a culture rooted in innovation, efficiency, and collective harmony. By studying these systems, Fury reveals how transportation is more than movement—it’s a visual and experiential language that tells the deeper story of a city’s values and rhythms.
