Opening Saturday, August 30th, Far From Somewhere is a theme-unrestricted, medium-unrestricted group art show highlighting a varied group of artists based in Chicago’s south side and south suburbs.
The show places a particular emphasis on artists from the city’s far south side, bringing together hyperlocal scenes that are often kept apart from each other by the industrial geographies, wide highways, and pervasive social segregation that impact our region of the city.
With works on display that range from paint on canvas to stone sculpture to fiber arts, Far From Somewhere is the first in a hopeful new tradition of a selective annual open-call show in the Block House Gallery.
The reception on August 30th will feature free drinks for attendees.
