Filter Photo is pleased to present a book launch and pop-up exhibition by Daniel Hojnacki, in conjunction with the release of Earthlike Poems. Earthlike Poems is a risograph publication, printed in collaboration with The Donut Shop.
Earthlike Poems is a collection of found poetry and collages that reinterprets the language and illustrations of planetary science to quietly speculate on the human condition through playful curiosity.
Daniel will be showcasing for the first time a selection of unique silver gelatin works and collaged poems from the series. In addition to the publication, limited edition risograph posters will also be available for purchase.
About the Artist
Daniel Hojnacki (b.1989) received his MFA from the University of New Mexico (2022) and his BA from Columbia College Chicago (2011). Daniel is a recipient of the Penumbra Foundation Workspace Artist-In-Residence (2022), The Patrick Nagatani Photography Scholarship, The Phyllis Muth Arts Award, among other honors. He has exhibited work at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, University of New Mexico Art Museum, and the Chicago Cultural Center. His work has been featured in Aint-Bad, Pamplemousse Magazine, Southwest Contemporary Magazine and Conveyor Studio’s Mercuria Ch.4. He is represented by 203 Fine Art in Taos, NM. He currently lives and works in Chicago, IL. @d_hojnacki
About the Publisher
The Donut Shop is the project space and studio of Jennifer Keats located in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. The Donut Shop functions as an independent curatorial publishing practice collaborating with makers to publish and distribute small edition publications—creating an avenue for all kinds of makers to push their practice through book production. @thedonuteshop
