Chicago neo-soul collective Karma Fête is putting pole dancers at the front of the stage with their fourth “KARMA SWEAT: A Live Band Pole” show at Lemon on Thursday, July 24th.

Karma Fête is led by Cordoba’s Zach Bain-Selbo (he/him) and Tamarie T & the Elektra Kumpany’s Kat Karasi (she/they). For their “Karma Sweat” series, they’re adding live member Brianna Tong (Cordoba, Bussy Kween Power Trip) to the full live band, and the series is co-produced by Bain-Selbo’s partner Abbie Warhus, who notes Karma Sweats puts an effort to hire local sex workers for these events.

Warhus said, “As a sex worker (SW), it’s important for Karma Sweat to reflect back to the vibrant community of SWs, strippers, and pole dancers who I have come to love. With every show, we’ve prioritized booking a diverse cast of local SWs and pole dancers, giving them the opportunity to showcase their incredible pole skills. We started this series at The Newport Theater, thanks to the bravery of Eva La Feva. Our first two shows were a huge success but we moved to a bigger space to give the band room to breathe.”

Karma Fête released an EP and several singles since first releasing music in 2023. The Chicago Tribune wrote, “they leaned into doing their own thing, ending up with a difficult to classify but unique sound. Their music, which incorporates elements of soul, funk, jazz and hip hop, is a unique amalgamation of their tastes, their rich backgrounds and their inspirations.”

The fourth Karma Sweat show will feature sultry pole performances that’ll leave jaws on the floor, accompanied by the Karma Fête house band, who will be laying down sexy RnB tunes. Come sweat it with some of the best pole dancers Chicago has to offer.
