Employees Only is very excited to present its fifth edition, SPECIES BEING, featuring experimental works by Mary Helena Clark + Mike Gibisser, Jesse Malmed + ONO, and Dana Dawud. The program focuses on the ways in which capitalism inscribes worlds and futures for living beings through codes, patents, myths, and other syntaxes.

An interconnected look at tradition, colonialism, property, faith, and science, as seen through labor practices that link an endangered salamander, mass-produced apples, and the evolving fields of genomics and machine learning.

A sweeping collage of footage from the Chicago Film Archives (CFA), made in collaboration with Chicago-based experimental noise band ONO. Commissioned by CFA.
NOAH’S ARK (2024), Dana Dawud, 8 mins
A video essay culled from social media to explore the ideological implications of flood myths in relation to politics and climate change. The film was commissioned by Shumon Basar for Global Art Forum, Dubai.
