ABOUT THE ARTISTS
A Chicago based queer singer-songwriter armed with unwaveringly intimate lyrics & acoustically driven melodies, damsel. (she/her) is a breath of fresh air on the indie folk scene. Taking inspiration from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Laura Marling, Taylor Swift and Adrianne Lenker, damsel. sings with unflinching honesty about her life and the world that she sees around her. Damsel. has two EPs and multiple singles on all streaming platforms and will be releasing her first full length album in the new year. @damsel.songs
Gentlefriend is emo music by Cay Allan, with a general focus on her transition experience and newfound connection to her body. Just like her, the music is inextricably midwestern, earnest, and queer. @basshero
Pretty Lee (they/she) is a southern born and bred lesbian who has goofy tunes to share with the city of Chicago. Their music may remind you of silly songs with Larry if you grew up evangelical and watched veggie tales. You’ll be guaranteed a giggle while listening to Pretty Lee’s acoustic songs about gay love, mantras for moms, and unexpected vacations. Follow them @pretty_peyton_lee on insta for updates on their upcoming one person show “Southern Symphony”
Brooke (she/they) is a queer spoken word and slam poet originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Their poetry career started in 2019 at the San Diego Poetry Slam, and they have since then had the opportunity to perform and compete in various cities across the country such as: Baltimore, Las Vegas, Seattle, Chicago and Los Angeles. They have also had the privilege of being able to merge their passion for advocacy and the arts by being a guest speaker at human rights rallies and abortion rights fundraisers, as well as at local high schools. Skydiving Without a Parachute and Other Success Stories is their first full-length published manuscript, but you can find pieces of them in the following anthologies: Poets Underground Vol. I, Not Ghosts but Spirits Vol. Il, and the San Diego Poetry Annual 2022-2023. When Brooke is not writing or performing, you can find them somewhere in the mountains with their puppy and a dead car battery, just hoping everything works itself out. @bthe.poet
