September 27th marks the Drag City release of two albums by two artists. Following Sonescent, Matchess’ 2022 album documenting “the final moments in the life of music,” the Stena cassette goes further, reanimating dying waves with a collage of found sounds, frequency experiments and new music compositions. At the same time, Whitney Johnson presents the Hav LP, a new composition for sine waves, marimba, viola, Arp Odyssey and Halldorophone. Tonight the collective of summer touring performers unite, bringing their varied backgrounds in sound art, rock, and experimental music to a psychoacoustic experience of “Doubles.”

Itsï Ramirez is a Chicago based composer. Her 2024 album debut, New Animals, was released on No Rent Records. Stepping out of the naturalized preoccupation with sound as sound, she takes on the project of recovering a new music that has been forgotten.
