Legacy on the Line: a Language and Arts Installation

“Legacy on the Line” is an installation that merges literature with art, exhibiting through a fictional literary setting how the integration of words and ideas is a fundamental aspect of language, literature and creative acts.

The installation also opens parallel conversations between culture and politics: Which are the political implications behind the issuance and acceptance of artistic awards? What is the relationship between creative freedom and artistic recognition to canons and institutions? In any case, who establishes what defines a successful artistic career or what exactly shall constitute its pinnacle?

What to expect:
– A performative and interactive art installation.
– Visual material for spectators to interact with, as well as to take home.
– Drinks and food.

Join us at “El Anticuario” (1425 W 18th St) on Thursday, September 12, for an in-person showcase of this installation. Entrance is free but a $10 donation is suggested.

A mutual connection exists between readers and writers. Writers are shaped by each of their sentences. Success is often perceived as a straight path. Awardees face posterity in their acceptance speeches. From the intimate and solitary act of writing, to the public sphere of artistic recognition: the legacy is on the line.

Explore the power of words and ideas fluttering and coming together in the mind of the latest Nobel in literature awardee.

In this literary world, it is all in your head. That is the game.
