Lincoln Park – Art City Presents Two Shows by Three Artists.
Riley Brady is a Chicago-based graphic designer and multidisciplinary artist with practices in publication design, branding, illustration, printmaking, and traditional craft. Her exhibition, ‘Me Time,’ is a commentary on this oft spoken psychological time-out recharge necessity. She currently works as a designer and manager at the River North marketing consulting firm, Blue Daring.
‘Toxic Beauty, Tears of Perfection’ is the title of installation work by two School of the Art Institute of Chicago MFA students, Michelle Alexander and Stasia Lev. Their work explores generational ideals of beauty that morph as the arrow of time causes these ideals to evolve. What was once considered detestable can become tolerable, and eventually, endearing. As humans, despite being individual entities, we encompass the universe, and yet we walk with immeasurable pressure from aesthetic standards, often sacrificing the inner for the outer.
All three artists will be exhibiting their work at Art City located at 1400 N. Halsted Street in Chicago from August 23 – September 19, 2024. An opening reception will be held on Friday, August 23, 5 – 9pm. Free and open to the public.
