‘MAGIN’ IS A CHICAGO-BASED ELECTRONIC DUO. VOCALIST MIA AREVALO AND MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST KD DID DRAW THEIR INSPIRATIONS FROM THE QUEER NIGHTLIFE AND UNDERGROUND MUSIC SCENES OF CHICAGO AND BEYOND. TOGETHER, THEY UTILIZE VOCAL HARMONIES AND SYNTHESIZED RHYTHMS TO EXPLORE THEMES OF GENDER, IDENTITY, AND DESIRE.
fleshwheel makes esoteric experimental electronic music. they draw inspiration from sun ra’s afrofuturist visions driven by music technology and donna haraway’s envisioning of our modern world and future where “human and nonhuman are inextricably linked in tentacular practices”. they create and perform with audio feedback networks which distort function and control of the music technology to create a dynamical system which transcends the original design of the technology in a harmonious queer union between human and technology.
