Adeshola Makinde’s I SHOOK UP THE WORLD reshapes the narrative of Black achievement by mining the historic archives of the Johnson Publishing Company. By sourcing images from iconic publications like Ebony and Jet magazines, he re-contextualizes visual records, cutting, splicing, and reprinting them to craft powerful portraits of influential Black figures.

These exhibitions will be open to the public from August 30th through September 28th, 2024, and admission is free. Visitors are encouraged to come and explore the works on display.
