Saúl Aguirre, Miguel Cortez and Jesús Oviedo have been acquainted since their art school days in the early 90’s. Their divergent paths in life have encompassed gallery ownership, early childhood education and many other disciplines.
Evocative of clouds that spread apart, their art-making styles have evolved and dispersed; gone off in diverse directions in both form and content.
Their current approaches toward imagery and mark-making often pertain to the concept of dissipation, encompassing realism, abstraction and even a dissolution between the two. The body of work in this exhibition includes a diversity not only in styles but also in media, painting, printmaking, drawing and a fusion of different media.
This exhibition represents dissipation but also a persistence in artmaking over the last few decades, and a reconvening of the artists’ diverse artworks coming together, at least ephemerally for this exhibition.
