Artist Talk and Exhibition Tour with Salvador Campos
@ Harold Washington Library Center
400 S State St, Chicago. IL 60605
Opening Saturday, July 13th, from 12PM - 1PM
Please join us for an artist talk with local creator Salvador Campos. Mr. Campos will discuss his work and lead a tour of his current exhibit The New Art Brut: Assemblages, Sculptures and Paintings, which will be on display in the Arts & Music Department on the eighth floor of the Harold Washington Library Center from June 15 to July 27.
A self-taught artist and poet from Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, Campos transforms discarded objects from Chicago’s streets into paintings, assemblages, figures, masks and sculptures. His work is influenced by the visual traditions of cave painting, graffiti, African art and the Art Brut movement. Campos has exhibited his work in both solo and group shows across the Chicago region for the past 23 years, including at the Bridgeport Art Center, the Oak Park Art League, the Noyes Cultural Art Center and Columbia College.
