Nadya Tolokonnikova, creator of the Russian feminist protest art collective Pussy Riot, returns to Chicago Humanities to discuss her latest project FEAR NOT, a series of art works created in response to the recent death of Alexei Navalny, the activist and Russian opposition leader. Navalny’s lifelong commitment to a liberated Russia, and his tragic death that occured while imprisoned, serve as a poignant backdrop to Tolokonnikova’s work. Join Tolokonnikova for a presentation and conversation about protest art as both a form of resistance to authoritarianism and a celebration of the unyielding resilience of the human spirit.
