Marina Abramović: A Journey Through Performance Art

Marina Abramović is an icon of performance art. Exploring the complex relationship between audience and artist, her body is often used in performance as subject and medium. “I believe we humans need to keep moving forward, and my own life was purely nomadic… My home was everywhere I went because my home was my own body,” says Abramović, who is known for her pioneering work, such as Seven Easy Pieces (2005) at the Guggenheim and Rhythm o (1974). Abramović takes Chicago Humanities on a journey through her lifelong dedication to performance art by referencing the original drawings, collages, poetry, writings and photographs from her life and book, Nomadic Journey and Spirit of Places.
