Reefer Madness (1936)
Louis J. Gasnier · 68m · 16mm

Originally financed by a church group, Reefer Madness is, on the surface, a film about the dangers of marajiuana consumption. But its long-standing appeal is less rooted in the “public good” of its message and more in the absurdly over-the-top performances and scenarios portrayed. Following a group of high school students lured into trying the drug who find themselves tangled in a web of crimes and hallucinations, this 1936 film has gained a new life as a satire: perfect to watch on 4/20!
