About the Speaker
Amy Sillman (b. 1955, Detroit) has lived and worked in New York City since 1975. Sillman is widely known as a painter whose vigorous intuitive/analytical studio practice engages both formal and conceptual issues in and outside of painting. Working across drawing, printmaking, and animation, she embeds painting shows with adjacent ideas and forms, such as zines, handmade iPhone animations, and writing. Sillman has taught and lectured widely, curated exhibitions, and in 2020 a book of her writing and drawings, Faux Pas, was published by After 8 Books in Paris. Her work has been exhibited widely in the USA and Europe, including participation in the 2022 Venice Biennale. She is represented by Gladstone Gallery New York.
