Worcester will be graduating with an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the Painting & Drawing department this spring. This exhibition is presented in alignment with Worcester’s final thesis presentation on view at 33 E. Washington Street.
Through a combination of dissonant colors and textures, Worcester’s abstract paintings on view challenge the limitations of the viewer’s perception. When faced with his encompassing paintings, perspective becomes skewed, even dizzying, as the eye searches for stable ground. Through an intensive layering process, colors emerge and disappear creating swirling, captivating movements of lines and shifting His canvases call attention not only to the viewer’s physical reaction to the work, but also the parallels to our relationship with technological screens, and the inherent struggle between the physical and online world. Ultimately, Worcester’s works poetically shift and transform depending on where the viewer’s body is in relation to the paintings and the experiences they bring with them.
