Prepare to embark on a journey into the deceptive world of relaxation as we present Violet Luczak’s latest body of work, “Give it a Rest”.
With an MFA from the esteemed Cranbrook Academy of Art and a prospering career as an assistant professor at McHenry College, Luczak delves into the complexities of false relaxation through 13 stunning original paintings.
“Give it a Rest” challenges our perceptions of leisure and invites us to question what true relaxation means.
Each piece in this collection is a window into the hidden tension that lies behind the facade of calm, beckoning us to examine our own pursuits of rest and rejuvenation. Her paintings are a reflection of a society that often mistakes distraction for tranquility.
“We live in a world where we are told if we relax, we are being lazy, and that we must be working and hustling, regardless how exhausting that has become. On the flipside, weโre then sold โself-careโ as a product and have found ourselves in a place where relaxation is being capitalized as a treat rather than a necessity.”
