“The Block Collects” Gallery Talk: Elizabeth Vazquez on Laura Aguilar
@ Block Museum of Art
40 Arts Circle Dr, Evanston, IL 60208
Opening Wednesday, February 14th, from 1:30PM - 2:30PM
Spend time with 2022-2023 Block Museum Curatorial Intern Elizabeth Vazquez (’24 Anthropology and History), who will share her research and reflections on photographer Laura Aguilar and recent acquisitions from the artist’s Motion series.
Block gallery talks explore exhibitions by posing multidisciplinary questions and perspectives, led by knowledge sharers across Northwestern and beyond.
The Block Collects features artworks in the museum’s permanent collection, which focus on expanded ideas of gender and are in dialogue with a student-led collecting project undertaken by the 2022-2023 Block Student Associates.
Programs are open to all, on a first-come first-served basis. RSVPs are not required, but appreciated, as they help us anticipate attendance numbers.
About Elizabeth Vazquez
Elizabeth Vazquez is a senior studying Anthropology (Archaeology) and History (History of the Americas) from Chicago, IL. As Vazquez is preparing to begin her museum career, her academic interests include museum histories and the blurred lines between art and artifacts in a museum setting. She explores these academic interests as a Franke Fellow with Northwestern’s Kaplan Institute. If you can’t find her in University Special Collections, find her birdwatching on the Lakefill or baking ridiculous amounts of sourdough.
