In conjunction with the closing of our current exhibition Nocturne, Jason Lazarus presents ‘How to Watch a Solar Eclipse,’ an instructional conversation that aims to engage with and expand on ideas surrounding the celestial event, in advance of the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse, taking place on Monday, April 8th. He will approach the subject from a variety of perspectives— from the aesthetic to the political— while considering poetics, science, intergenerational intimacy, and access, among other themes. Lazarus has been making work about vision and visibility for 20 years, and this lecture continues an inquiry into looking away to see.
