Twisting Galaxies with Dark Matter and Dark Energy
There is much we don’t know about the Universe. Two of the biggest puzzles are: What makes the Universe expand and What is the nature of Dark Matter? While many astronomical observations showed that almost 70% of the energy contained in the Universe makes it expand in an accelerated way and over 80% of the total matter contained in the Universe is invisible, there is much we can learn about both questions with modern telescopes!
In this talk, Dr. Secco will show that Dark Matter can have very interesting indirect effects on the shapes of galaxies by twisting, stretching and shearing them, and that these interesting new shapes in turn also allow us to probe the very nature of Dark Energy.
