In “Wanderlust,” Elaine Miller reflects on a lifelong desire to travel to the world’s most exotic and remote landscapes and wildlife, contrasted with her paintings documenting a hyperlocal midwestern landscape. The primary impetus for her focus on landscape genre, whether fantasy or documentary, is a deep concern and reverence for the natural world, especially its forests and the wildlife it protects. The paintings are a way to reconnect the artists and the viewer with the spiritual qualities of nature and our complex relationship with it.
