Ruby Que: Holding

@ Bird Show

Hybrid

Opening Sunday, September 3rd, from 12PM - 5PM

On view through Sunday, September 17th

Bird Show is happy to announce our fourth exhibition of the season with artist Ruby Que.

Holding by Que will be open for viewing on the following Sundays: September 3rd, September 10th, and September 17th.

Hybrid gallery hours are Sundays from 12-5pm CDT. The work is live streamed on Twitch, and we are also open for in-person visits by appointment. Please email birdshowchicago@gmail.com to arrange a visit. Address, accessibility information, and other details will be provided once your appointment is confirmed.
Ruby Que is a Chicago-based installation artist. In their work they open portals and create hauntings. Many of their projects grapple with absences: the missing person, the deserted homeland, the obsolete medium, the traumatic memory. They try and often fail to fill, embrace, or expand these gaps with videos, projections, stories, and sculptures. Human connection lies at the center of their practice and they enjoy engaging the audience as co-authors and documentarians.

Que writes: “I am offering Bird Show a new body of spoons made of cast bronze, aluminum, walnut, and poplar. The sculpting and polishing processes vary for each material, but the goal remains the same – to create space for holding.”
