Tobin Fraley, Room 426
Room 426
An exploration of a room on a rainy Sunday afternoon at a Marriott SpringHill Suites in Fresno, California in 19 panels. With a bit of imagination and an openness to seeing what is around us, we can play the game of exploration, even in the most mundane of environments. One of the exercises Tobin Fraley teaches in his photography classes is for the student to explore their own home and find objects that have disappeared and then to photograph them. Not literally disappeared, but an object that we have become so accustomed to, we no longer pay attention to its existence. That is the crux of Room 426.
Iris Lutz Kissed by City Light
Kissed by City Light
Iris Lutz seeks fragments of poetry in the play of light and shadow when she explores the unique urban charm of Chicago. Light rays beam through narrow spaces between high-rises, sun rays filter through the metal structures of L trains and bridges, stray light sparkles in shadows on brick and alley walls and reflects in windows and water. Iris creates chiaroscuro images where light embraces silhouetted people and buildings and where darkness lays a velvet cover over the chaos, hustle and bustle. The images in the series Kissed by City Light are like the photographer’s words in a love letter to Chicago.
