The Last of Animal Builders
@ Edith Farnsworth House
14520 River Rd, Plano, IL 60545
Opening Sunday, April 2nd, from 1PM - 4PM
On view through Sunday, November 26th
A group show of contemporary artists in dialogue with Mies van der Rohe’s iconic Edith Farnsworth House and its surroundings. Selected works from Thoma Foundation’s Collection and Chicago-based artists bring a myriad of perspectives and critiques on modern architecture, power relations in the built environment, and the construction of nature as an intellectual framework. Through video, drawing, and sculpture, the works in this exhibition engage with animal, vegetal, and mineral metaphors as a vehicle to propose alternative readings of human becoming, social transformation, and material exchange. Curated by Alberto Ortega Trejo, the exhibition brings together works by Faysal Altunbozar, Selva Aparicio, ASMA, Daniel Baird, Renée Green, Claudia Hart, Ragnar Kjartansson, Michael Rakowitz, Joshi Radin, and Thiago Rocha Pitta.
