Doug Fogelson: The Witness and Mac Pierce: Shall Not Be Infringed

Doug Fogelson has created a series of photograms which investigate conceptual approaches to observation. The series, called “The Witness” looks at the circle, like the eye itself, and its correlation to consciousness. His photograms are made up of layers of multiple images exposed directly on light sensitive media, expressing multiple momentary impressions that are metaphors for human memories and metaphysical experience.
Mac Pierce is an artist working in the various mediums of technology: coding, 3D printing, data automation, and cryptography. “Shall Not Be Infringed” addresses the Second Amendment and the influence technology has had on the nature of and access to weaponry. 3D printing has complicated the dialogue surrounding legal vs illegal weaponry, allowing many gray areas to emerge which are quickly politicized and exploited.
