Design Museum of Chicago and 062 is pleased to present Thank You for Shopping with Us, a solo exhibition by Thomas Kong in the Atrium Gallery.
Artist’s artist, Thomas Kong (b.1950, Hwanghae Province, North Korea) immigrated to the US in 1977. His studio and his convenience store, Kim’s Corner Food, is where he creates collage using surplus and packaging material and is located in the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. Thank you for Shopping with Us is a solo exhibition by Thomas Kong and will present black plastic bags and collages, using immediate and seemingly disposable materials, created in 2022.
Please join us on December 1st, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm for the opening reception at the Design Museum of Chicago. This exhibition runs through January 31st, 2023.
This exhibition was curated by S.Y. Lim, Executive Director of 062 and Director of Programming at Mana Contemporary Chicago.
About Atrium Gallery
The Atrium Gallery at the Design Museum of Chicago is a community-in-action centered space. The Design Museum’s pop-up exhibition space is centered around bringing untold stories to the Loop. The Atrium Gallery is dedicated to partner-centered and devised work. Pop-up exhibitions tend to run as short as a weekend, but usually in the 4-6 week range.
