Phase, the temporary, a moment. Reflecting on the past three months we can consider this period of exchange as an integral phase in our lives. Eleven students from all around the world, we have come together on this programm as a group and as a collective. A collective, which shares in skills, ideas, and techniques. What has been fascinating going through this process is the variation in pedagogy, which we have brought from our home institutions and how this has informed a unique and idiosyncratic response to the school and city of Chicago. Artists, designers, ceramicists and architects, a diverse cohort both in terms of geographical location and in our practices has allowed for a truly nourishing experience.
This show reflects the hard work, humor, and sense of community that we as a group have culminated here. Each work expresses a phase within the phase generated in response to a lesson, conversation, or encounter within the city both inside and outside the classroom. As we have created exciting dialogues here in Chicago, we hope you find unseen and exciting dialogues between the different works in the context of the latent space.
