Lauren Ball (b.1980, Chicago, IL), received her MFA in Studio Art from New York University and her BFA with a concentration in Painting and Drawing from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She is often making digital collages, writing and drawing, taking iPhone photos on city walkabouts, and researching 19th-century painting. Ball’s work relies on the painting process, color theory, alchemy, and her response to surface, while navigating intuition to create an essential realism within her surreal works. Ball’s process is predicated on the continuous dissolution and reinvention of the imagery that occurs throughout the stages of production.
