The Museum of Gender Divination, Oracle Objects and Non-discursive Knowing (MOGD) is a queer esoteric faux folk museum. The MOGD consists of artworks and ahistorical displays of realila made and collected by Salem Turchan ( @hyacinthqueer ). The ongoing project allows for an imagined past of queer occultism, focussing on divination and oracles as windows into an understanding of gender.
Salem H. Turchan is an artist, art jeweler, and instructor living in Sheboygan WI. She is a recent graduate from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she received her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art in Sculpture. Her work focuses on topics of, queer theory, sculpture, painting, absurdism, internet culture, institutional critique, text and symbols, trauma, and storytelling
