Soji Adebayo was a spirit musician, a tribal jazz pioneer, a sonic warrior against insanity and inhumanity, and an interdimensional visionary who distilled truth from the vastness of the cosmos into the infinitesimal frequencies of sound. His collaborations with Light Henry Huff, Hamid Drake, Sura DuPart, and other members of the AACM were an important part of the Chicago creative music landscape for decades. And his landmark Infinite Spirit Music recording from 1979 even today continues to inspire thousands of people around the world to “Live Without Fear.”
Soji left the planet in January 2021. Given the state of the world at that time, it was very difficult for us to come together to celebrate his extraordinarily generous life. Now that we can have events again, we’re able to hold the first (that we know of) memorial tribute concert in honor of Soji Adebayo. We invite you! Come share your stories and memories, and celebrate a truly great spirit in the music!
