Giovanna Pizzoferrato Ribeiro is a dual-citizen Brazilian American artist, born in Los Angeles. She is currently based in Chicago, and recently got back after 5 weeks of being the Artist in Residence at Ceramics School in Detroit, where she made many of the ceramic works featured in this exhibition. Giovanna’s artwork had been primarily painting and drawing, until the pandemic created a shift in her art practice. Giovanna began showing ceramic works alongside her paintings in June 2021, at her solo show “You And What Army?” at projectspace The Hermitage LA.
Giovanna began her education at SAIC, and graduated with a BFA with honors in 2016 from ArtCenter College of Design, in Pasadena, CA. Her work has been shown in exhibitions in Los Angeles, Chicago, and São Paulo.
