The Latent Space is pleased to debut the work of Janiece Maddox, interdisciplinary artist, in her first solo exhibition Gray Matter. This collection invites you to a fabricated reality inside of a childlike liminal space. The ordinary scene of a bathroom is transformed into a playful display of academia and nostalgia warped into a compilation of objects which critique the child’s place in our reality. Her ceramic sculptures create an environment to reflect on how we have been manipulated by society to be stripped of our blissful outlook on life in exchange for being capable of inflicting that manipulation ourselves.
