New Blood is the annual student festival of performance, live art and time-based work at SAIC. For the past eight years, New Blood has been produced in partnership with and at Links Hall. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, New Blood XIV will take a new form. Artists have been invited to create performances in SAIC’s public facing windows at 37 S. Wabash in the Sharp Building and at 33 E. Washington the location of the new SAIC Galleries. This reimagined festival will happen Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the second week of November with durational performance work presented in both windows simultaneously. The festival will feature work by Leila Ghasempor, Sal Moreno, Maria Plotnikova, Keny Sánchez, Anthony Sims and Jess Smoot.
Full Schedule Details:
Monday November 9th, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Anthony Sims will be performing his piece Assemblage in the 37 S. Wabash Window
Mariia Plotnikova will be performing her piece The discipline of being a weapon in the 33 E. Washington Window
Wednesday November 11th, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Keny Sánchez will be performing their piece Contornos (Final Title TBD) in the 37 S. Wabash Window
Leila Ghasempor will have surrogates performing her work Inhale, Exhale in the 33 E. Washington Window
Friday November 13th, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Sal Moreno will be performing his piece A Space of Our Own in the 37 S. Wabash Window
Jess Smoot will be performing her piece until we can party again, i’ll be here in the 33 E. Washington Window
