Mariana & Chijioke: Comics as a tool for tackling social issues Part 2: Identity
@ Lucky Pierre
Online
Opening Sunday, November 29th, at 2PM
This week Chi will present on one of the biggest upsets in Marvel history–the death of Spider-Man, and his subsequent replacement by Doctor Octopus. In this 2012 publication, The villain soon learns that heroism runs bone-deep, and finds that being Spider-Man is more than powers and web-slinging. This story explores themes of how trauma can shape identity, identity can change over time, and roles like ‘hero’ and ‘villain’ become arbitrary when truly innocent lives are on the line.
We can’t wait to explore this story with you!
