An online public conversation series, presented by 2020-2022 Threewalls RaDLOW fellow Felicia Holman.
On November 30th at 6:30 pm, independent cultural producer Felicia Holman debuts a three-part artist talk series about her latest creative endeavor, ‘Welcome to Bucktown.’ This series is a public conversation centering Holman’s research and curatorial approach to developing her 2020-2022 Threewalls RaDLOW fellowship project.
Essentially, ‘Welcome to Bucktown’ is a hyperlocal praxis of art/ radical imagination and social justice, to produced within the spatial boundaries of the (re)gentrified northside Chicago neighborhood Holman has called home for over 20 years. She explains, “Quarantine has forced me to recognize that the core of my arts practice and communities has been cultivated primarily outside of my neighborhood. Now, through RaDLOW, I am both empowered and challenged to center my practice at home.”… “As a native Chicagoan, an intersectionally marginalized artist and former non-profit arts administrator, I am committed to challenging canonical narratives specifically through a BIPOC-led community-based interdisciplinary arts framework in Bucktown; a framework founded on wholeness, justice and liberation.”
