Artist Statement:
I aim to create positive connection by representing the human experience. This particular body of work focuses on the empowerment of women. I have depicted the subjects with natural crowns, so as to suggest that all women are in their own right, extraordinary, whatever their interests, ethnicities, or senses of purpose are. The mixed media (acrylic paint and charcoal) used here, combines nature, people, and ordinary objects to create surreal imagery. My paintings are influenced by nature and the seemingly mundane things that make each person unique. In celebrating what makes us individuals, we can appreciate one another’s many facets, and perhaps find unity in our common experiences.
