Join us for a live virtual reading with Suzanne Buffam and her student Kirsten Ihns, and CM Burroughs and student Chad Morgan. The Open Door series presents work from Chicago’s new and emerging poets and highlights the area’s outstanding writing programs. Each event features readings by two Chicagoland writing program instructors and two of their current or recent students. June’s Open Door reading series features Suzanne Buffam and her student Kirsten Ihns, and CM Burroughs and student Chad Morgan.
Kirsten Ihns is the author of sundaey (Propeller Books, 2020). A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she is currently a Ph.D. student and Neubauer Presidential Fellow in English at the University of Chicago, where she studies contemporary visual poetics, co-organizes UChicago’s Poetry & Poetics Workshop, and co-curates the Plexiglas series at The Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry. Individual poems appear in jubilat, Hyperallergic, Black Warrior Review, Poetry Now, Bennington Review, The Iowa Review, and elsewhere. She is originally from Atlanta, GA, and Pensacola, FL.
Chad Morgan’s work has appeared in The Adroit Journal, Columbia Poetry Review, Analecta, and elsewhere. He lives in Chicago, where he is competing his MFA in Poetry at Columbia College.
