Carron Little has been performing as queen of luxuria since 2008 inspired by Quentin Crisp and growing up in the queer community in the north of England, U.K. She is a queen of the people and for the people and her practice begins with interviewing people. She transforms the interviews into lyrical poetry that become anthems for humanity. In these times of sequestered living Carron has decided to create communal zoom room experiences where people can come together and travel through the personal histories of the people she has interviewed over the last ten years. It is vital that we continue to create radical, communal spaces where diverse voices can be heard.

Carron is digging through her archives of people poetry and coming up with different conceptual frameworks for each performance. In the first week, she focused on the environment, in the second week she selected poetry that related to love, language and our body, and in this third performance she is thinking about place and architecture. With our streets abandoned the environment is thriving in our absence, we wake up to the bird’s song that has thankfully returned, yet there is an ominous quality to the empty streets. Jane Jacob in her seminal book The Death and Life of Great American Cities talks about how there is greater safety in urban space where people congregate, be it on a street corner or in a park. What does it mean to congregate in our times and what does it mean to be present in an age of sequestered living?
